Make Duty Bodies Keep Streets and Open Spaces Clean

Improve our public spaces by keeping them attractive and welcoming
The law requires that streets and open spaces are kept clean. Most ‘Duty Bodies’ fail this legal requirement including Scottish Ministers. Enforcing, rather than ignoring, this legal standard impacts on public health, community wellbeing, low level crime, civic pride, safe walking and cycling, business investment and tourism. As a society we cannot afford to ignore such a basic requirement. Basic hygiene standards are falling. It is also an equality issue.
